The 25th Annual Strongsville Rib Burn-Off will feature a musical reunion on Saturday night June 25th from 6:30pm to 10:30pm in the gazebo on the Commons at the corner of Pearl Rd and Rt 82.
Under The Radar (known locally as the duo of Gary Willard and Paul Silvestro), who can be seen at area clubs such as The Mad Cactus, Bilo’s, and The Blue Snapper in Middleburg Heights, will blossom into a full five-piece band with an interesting combination of musicians.
Willard and Silvestro performed in the late 70’s & early 80’s in the bands ‘Breakout’ and ‘Nasty Habits’, appearing regularly at The Agora, The Corral, Filthy McNasty’s, and many other premier nightclubs throughout a seven state area. With them on bass guitar at that time was Mark Best, who will be joining them for this Strongsville performance. Best is most recently known for his work with the local group ‘Oasis’.
Willard and Silvestro also performed in ‘The Evidence’, an all-original project, with drummer JR Silvestro (Paul’s brother). The Evidence went on to open concerts for Cheap Trick, Belinda Carlisle, Southside Johnny, and many others, on stages such as The Front Row, Nautica, and The National Rib Cook-Off. The Silvestro’s moved on to form the popular 90’s Cleveland club staple ‘Pop Gun’

ARMST RONG BEARCATS

Thursday, June 25th: 6:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
Opening the show was Cleveland’s Armstrong Bearcat Band. I had been hearing good things about this band for quite some time but had never seen them. I was really missing out. This band is beyond a doubt the best area band I have seen so far. Armstrong Bearcat ripped through a set of “jump up an down, head” rockin’ blues the way it was meant to be played: loud, rude and aggressive. This is a band to watch.

There are some new additions to the musical presentation available through Jeff Cavallo's Live Piano & Steel Pan Music, LLC.
Starting with the new instruments: I added the sound of the Hammond B-3, the Jazz standard, with the Korg CX-3 keyboard. Also added is the digital marimba and vibes sound of the MalletKat, a 3-octave keyboard sized percussion unit.
I've also recorded a CD of Steel Pan favorites that is now available.
